Lùmen, the Mac app and this website (lumenlaser.app), is made by Dimitri Giani, Largo Riviera 7, 56128 Tirrenia (Pisa), Italy, VAT IT02381200506. He is the controller of the data described here. For anything about your data, write to support@lumenlaser.app.
When you activate or check your licence, the app sends your licence key and the name of your Mac (for example "John's MacBook Pro") to Lemon Squeezy, which sells Lùmen and manages its licences. They are used only to validate the licence and to count how many Macs use it. On your Mac, the licence is kept in the Keychain. The basis is the contract you made by buying Lùmen.
When it starts, the app reads from lumenlaser.app whether a new version is out and the current price. When you open a project from our library, it downloads that project from lumenlaser.app. These requests carry no identifier: like any web request, they reach our server with your IP address, which ends up only in the technical logs described in section 4.
At first launch the app asks whether you want to share anonymous usage data, and you can change your answer at any time in Settings › Privacy. Until you say yes, nothing is sent. If you say yes, the app sends events about how it is used (for example which tools and materials you use, whether a job finished, where you are in the trial and whether you have a licence) together with:
They never include file names, designs, images or G-code. They go to our own statistics server (tracker.dimix.it, hosted by Hostinger), which stores them without your IP address. The basis is your consent, which you can withdraw in Settings at any time. They are deleted after 14 months.
Your machine settings, materials, projects, job history and console stay on your Mac. The app talks to your laser over USB or over your own network. If you connect an AI assistant through MCP, that link runs on your Mac (127.0.0.1) and nothing goes through us.
For each page you open and each download, we record the page, the site you came from, whether you are on a computer or a phone, the time, and a code calculated from your IP address, your browser and the date. That code changes every day: it lets us count visitors without recognising anyone from one day to the next. Your IP address itself is not stored, no cookie is used, and no outside analytics service is involved. The basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful. These records are deleted automatically after 25 months.
Lùmen is sold by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the seller (merchant of record): it handles payment, billing details, invoices and taxes as an independent controller, under its own privacy policy. Lemon Squeezy shares with us your name, email address and order details, so we can help you with your licence and refunds. For each order our site also records the order number, the amount, its status and which page or button the purchase started from, to learn which pages lead to a purchase. These records are kept with our sales records.
When you write to us, we use your email only to answer you and keep the conversation as long as it is useful to help you.
We publish photos of your work, and the name you choose, only with your permission. Ask us and we remove them.
The website, its database and our statistics server are hosted by Hostinger, in the European Union. Like every web server, theirs keeps technical logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser) for security and to keep the service running, for a short period. We don't use them to identify you.
This website sets one cookie only, lumen_tools, and only if you sign in to a free tool (section 5). It is strictly necessary to keep you signed in, so it needs no consent. There are no analytics, advertising or third-party cookies. Icons and badges are served from our own server, and the links to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Product Hunt and Lemon Squeezy are plain links: nothing is loaded from those sites until you click.
The layered panel generator works in your browser: a logo or drawing you upload never leaves your computer. When you choose "Open in Lùmen", the panel you open (the cut lines of its pieces and a small preview picture) is stored on our server for 7 days so that the Lùmen app can download it, then deleted; no account is needed for this. Only the optional step that turns a photo into an illustration uses our server, and for it you sign in with your email address: we send you a link and a code, each valid once for 15 minutes. No password is created.
lumen_tools, which lasts 180 days or until you sign out.The photo you turn into an illustration is sent to OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C., USA), which draws the illustration. We do not keep the photo or the illustration on our server. Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models and may be retained for up to 30 days to detect abuse.
Sign-in emails and our news are sent through Titan, the email service of our domain. Your account and any marketing consent are kept until you ask us to delete them.
When data goes to the United States, it does so under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, receive it in a portable format, object to uses based on our legitimate interest, and withdraw any consent you gave. Write to support@lumenlaser.app: we answer within a month. You can also deactivate your licence from the app at any time. If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) or to the authority of the EU country where you live.
Lùmen is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we tell you before it applies.
